The 43-year-old Belmont

Video Games Chronicle's Gamescom piece is the most human summary: Trevor is 43, the spirit is willing, the body is not, so Rose does the legwork. He still matters. He is the man who already killed Dracula in 1476 with Sypha, Grant, and Alucard. He is also a widower. Sypha died after Rose's birth. That shadow is why this game is called Belmont's Curse and not Rose's Adventure.

Expect him as a hub voice, a quest giver, and possibly more — Konami has not said he is never playable. What they have said is that Rose receives the whip. If you need the 1476 recap, it is Castlevania III, not this wiki's job to reprint that entire NES campaign. For this title, treat Trevor as the coach on the opening streets.

Relationships that still bite

Isaac has a history with Trevor dating back 20 years, which is the Curse of Darkness scar. Dracula already lost to him once and resurrected three years later. The Paris letter is how those debts come due. Trevor giving Rose the whip is either trust or necessity. The story will decide which.
