Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Builds
Last updated: August 2026
A "build" in Belmont's Curse is a weapon category plus two Arcana plus three relics. That is the entire grid. You do not pick a class at the file select. You assemble one while walking through Paris. These three templates are for the pre-release and first weekend, based on what previewers actually used.
Whip courier — movement first
Once The Fallen falls, the Arcana Whip is the best toy in the demo. Build around it. Keep a whip-class melee so Holy Cross Works of Mercy complete themselves while you traverse. Blessings that let you throw two crosses or catch a refund turn the grapple approach into a layered attack. Relic priority: Crypt Key, then anything that forgives a missed swing. This is the build the whip grapple guide assumes.
Strengths: map speed, gap closes, stylish kills. Weaknesses: if a boss stays airborne without a hold point, you are just a girl with a rope. Keep a sword or spear category on the d-pad so Joan's ground game does not strand you.
Sypha's daughter — magic first
Rose inherited spells from Sypha Belnades. Lean into that. Max Cursed Flame's range or knockback Blessing, then slot Joan's explosion and Medusa's beam as soon as they exist. Weapons should be whatever refunds or clusters fastest, because mana comes from kills and from some attack-recharge descriptions. Relics that restore MP or enlarge potion value are the backbone. This build makes Arcana the main weapon and melee the battery.
Farm Works of Mercy on purpose. Twenty fireball kills is not a detour; it is your first real damage upgrade. Use the Arcana tracker so you do not lose track of which card still has unspent Blessings.
Belmont tank — flasks and XP
The Guardian noted that killing regular enemies yields XP that raises attack and defense. Combined with stackable potions and Crypt Key, you can play like a cautious hunter: clear every room, open every chest, enter bosses overleveled. This is the honest answer to The Fallen if the leap mix-up is destroying you. It is also the build that maps the map hub most thoroughly, which pays off later when castle gates want backtracking.
Do not confuse tank with standing still. Slide and backdash are still the defense. "Tank" here means resource-rich, not armor-plated. If Family's Grace has a defensive tooltip on Midnight Edition, this is the file to put it on. Standard players should still be fine — the XP curve is the real defensive relic.
How to swap without wrecking a file
Nothing in the previews suggests a one-way class lock. Swap weapons when a room asks for it. Respec questions are unanswered, so spend Blessings on cards you actually use. If you hate a spell, stop feeding it Works of Mercy. Take the three templates as starting positions, then steal pieces. A whip courier with Medusa's beam is still a whip courier. Check the weapons page when a new category drops and ask only one question: does this grapple attack do something my current kit cannot?
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a New Game Plus build path?
Konami has not talked about NG+ for Belmont's Curse. Plan as if one file is the whole campaign.
Which build is best for beginners?
The tank/XP approach. The game explicitly rewards clearing rooms, and the first boss is a hard skill check.
