How to Beat Joan of Arc in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
Last updated: August 2026
Joan of Arc is the second named wall in the hands-on path. You do not walk in the front door. You solve the tower, then you duel a fiery sword saint. Lore sits on the Joan boss page. Routing sits in the rooftops walkthrough. This page is the fight.

Hands-on context
The embedded preview below is a long-form hands-on that covers how hard the early bosses swing. Use it to hear why this is not a pushover mascot fight, then come back to the written tells.
Before the cut-in
Fill flasks. Empty every chest on the climb if Crypt Key is equipped. Spend Blessings on Cursed Flame or Holy Cross. A knockback flame or a double cross is worth more than a cosmetic damage number. If your whip grapple keeps pulling you into slams, swap to a grounded weapon category from the weapons guide.
During the duel
Previewers describe a corrupted sword fighter with a ground explosion. Treat the floor as guilty until proven innocent. Jump or whip-out of slam windups. Punish the recovery with short melee, then dash out. Save mana for the explosion window, not for random chip. If she has adds, Holy Cross is the cleaner tool than a whip yank into a slam.
When she dies, you receive a ground explosion Arcana. That card is a future key. Register it in the Arcana tracker and look toward the castle. The city is about to become a two-way map.
